HITACHI ENERGY LTD in Switzerland is seeking a Research Scientist in AI-driven power electronics to join its Research Center in Baden. You will drive industrial research, develop AI-enhanced power electronics tools, and contribute to HVDC, energy storage, and renewables projects.

You will collaborate with global teams, publish results, and help shape novel solutions for the energy transition while communicating in English. This is a full-time, on-site role in Baden/Switzerland.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering focused on Power Electronics is required.
• PhD in Computer Science focused on AI is required.
• Strong AI/ML expertise with algorithms and Python.
• Experience designing and modeling power electronics systems.
• Excellent English communication and teamwork.

How you’ll make an impact

• You innovate: Transform power electronics modeling, design and optimization by incorporating AI and ML
• You investigate: Perform industrial research in multi-physics modelling and optimization for power electronic systems to create advanced, high-efficiency engineering tools targeting new solutions for power grid applications.
• You take initiative: Collaborate with a global and interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers across research and business units to identify, shape, and solve impactful industrial challenges
• You collaborate: Build relationships within the company and actively share your knowledge and expertise. Interact with local and global external partners including universities and vendors
• You communicate: Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports

Your background

• PhD in Electrical Engineering specialized in Power Electronics or PhD in Computer Science specialized in AI
• Proven expertise in AI/ML, with a solid understanding of algorithms, frameworks, and extensive experience in Python and relevant software tools
• Ability to apply AI/ML to engineering problems, in particular in the field of power electronics
• Experience in power electronics design and modeling. Know-howin power electronics integration topics such as cooling and mechanical integration, insulation, EMC, and grid integration is considered as a plus
• Excellent communication skills in English, team player attitude, initiative and creativity
