Job summary

Helena School District # 1 has openings for a School Aged Child Care (SACC) Para Educator. As a SACC Para Educator, you contribute to the district's mission by assisting the SACC Site Manager in daily operations across 11 campuses serving 125 students.

You will work with a team of 40 providing supervision, support planned activities, and maintain a safe, orderly program environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide careful and effective supervision of children's activities as assigned by the site manager.
• Assist children in maintaining standards of appropriate behavior and health habits established for the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods.
• Cooperate with other program staff to create and maintain a harmonious and efficient environment.
• Interact positively with parents and refer appropriate questions and concerns to the site manager, including payment, scheduling and discipline questions.
• Perform clerical (attendance sheets) and housekeeping duties including snack preparation and clean up, project preparation and clean up.
• Oversee the appropriate use and storage of equipment and materials.
• Provide support in planned activities such as field trips and visiting resource persons.
• Maintain a safe and orderly program environment.

You will work as part of a team of 40 serving 125students on 11campuses across Helena.

Some of what you will do:

• Provide careful and effective supervision of children's activities as assigned by the site manager. Circulate among children, redirecting individuals into positive play and by pointing out alternative activities.
• Assist children in maintaining standards of appropriate behavior and health habits established for the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods and positive reinforcement strategies as demonstrated by the site manager (refer to Assertive Discipline Guidelines).
• Cooperate with other program staff to create and maintain a harmonious and efficient environment.
• Interact positively with parents and refers appropriate questions and concerns to site manager, including but not limited to: payment, scheduling and discipline questions.
• Perform clerical (attendance sheets) and housekeeping duties as assigned including but not limited to: snack preparation and clean up, project preparation and clean up.

To become part of this dedicated team, you need:

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Experience as a licensed or registered group or family day care provider or day care center staff preferred.

The successful candidate should have the ability to successfully work with children K-5. Successful applicant must possess the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Entry level salary range is $16.10-$19.63 per hour depending on education level and applicable relevant work experience and includes a generous pro-rated benefit package.
