Zusammenfassung

OM Pharma in Meyrin, Geneva area, seeks a Safety & Environment Engineer to lead and continuously improve site programs. Reporting to the Head of Engineering & Technical Projects, this role blends hands-on operations with strategic leadership across cross-functional teams.

The candidate will ensure ISO 14001/45001 compliance, manage audits, drive safety culture, deliver training, investigate incidents, and coordinate with regulators.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
  • Mandatory CFST Directive Safety Officer/Engineer certification.
  • 3–5 years of Safety & Environment management experience in manufacturing; pharma experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and occupational safety regulations and ISO 14001/45001.
  • Experience in audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Native or fluent French, with good English proficiency.

Aufgaben

  • Lead and deploy the site's Safety & Environment strategy, ensuring compliance with policies, law and ISO 14001/45001.
  • Manage and continuously improve prevention programs and safety culture.
  • Conduct safety and environmental inspections, audits, and act as main contact with regulators.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and implement required compliance measures.
  • Organize Safety & Environment Committees and track KPIs.
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver training programs on safety and environmental matters.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate Safety & Environment in engineering projects and support emergency preparedness.
  • Develop Safety & Environment communications, newsletters and awareness campaigns.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders and authorities to ensure regulatory alignment.

We are currently recruiting a Safety & Environment Engineer based at our global headquarters and biotech production site in Meyrin. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering & Technical Projects and working closely with cross-functional teams, your mission is to lead and continuously improve the site's Safety and Environment programs. This role combines hands-on operational activities and strategic leadership.


Your main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Lead and deploy the site's Safety and Environment strategy, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and ISO 14001/45001 standards
  • Manage and continuously improve the site's prevention programs by fostering a strong safety culture across the organization and supporting managers in fulfilling their responsibilities in this matter
  • Conduct safety and environmental inspections, coordinate internal and external audits, and act as the main point of contact with regulatory authorities
  • Monitor regulatory developments, assess their impact on site operations, and ensure implementation of required compliance measures
  • Organize and facilitate Safety & Environment Committees, coordinate action plans, and track progress through relevant KPIs
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver training programs, promoting employee awareness and engagement in safety and environmental matters
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce risks
  • Coordinate Safety & Environment aspects of engineering projects and support emergency preparedness and response activities across the site
  • Develop and maintain Safety & Environment communication initiatives, including newsletters, intranet content, digital displays and awareness campaigns
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, professional networks, service providers and local authorities to ensure best practices and regulatory alignment

To carry out this mission, we are looking for a candidate with the following profile:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field
  • Mandatory certification as a Safety Officer or Safety Engineer in accordance with the CFST Directive (or equivalent recognized qualification)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Safety & Environment management role within a manufacturing or process-oriented industrial environment; pharmaceutical industry experience an asset
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and occupational safety regulations and management systems, particularly ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Proven experience in conducting Safety & Environment audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Native or fully fluent French proficiency, with a good command of English, both written and spoken
