CERN - European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva invites applications for Computing Engineer (S3 Storage & Backup). You will join the Tape Archive and Backup (TAB) team, developing a next-generation on-premises backup solution and managing 1.5 PB of data in cold storage.

The role covers R&D, software development in C++/Python on Linux, integration with disk and tape, and operations including monitoring and troubleshooting.

Qualifikationen

• Proficient in C++ and Python on Linux.
• Experience with S3 object storage is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Ceph, systems integration, and backup systems is a plus.
• By the application deadline, max two years of professional experience since graduation.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree required; PhD not eligible.

Aufgaben

• Integrating backup orchestration with disk and tape storage.
• Developing and maintaining software in C++/Linux, client and server.
• Systems integration, configuration management, testing, monitoring and alerting of the new backup system.
• Contributing to planning the migration of existing services to the new backup solution.
• Participating in operations, troubleshooting and support as part of a team.
• Contributing to procedures and documentation.
