Job summary

SUPSI invites applications for an Assistant with Master in Robotics at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI) within the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) in Lugano. The position is 100% with a contract starting 01.01.2027 or another mutually agreed date.

You will design navigation algorithms, lead the autonomy stack integration on a real robotic platform, collaborate with industrial partners to push TRL 6–7, and support researchers, including Master

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Robotics or related field.
• Up to three years of professional experience.
• Strong Python programming skills; experience with C++ and ROS2.
• Experience in autonomous systems, perception, navigation, or human-robot interaction.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in international research teams and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop navigation algorithms for autonomous systems.
• Lead integration and validation of the autonomy stack on robotic hardware.
• Collaborate with industrial partners to advance TRL 6–7.
• Support research activities of PhD candidates and Master students.
• Contribute to dissemination of results in conferences and journals.
• Support management of funded research projects and milestone delivery.
