Job summary

UNIDIR's Conventional Weapons Programme seeks a Researcher for a part-time, remote role to support armed violence prevention and weapons management in West and Central Africa. The position involves collaboration with regional partners, experts and governments over a 364‑day contract, with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree required in international affairs, political science, disarmament or security studies.
• At least five years of relevant experience in armed violence prevention, WAM, and regional engagement in Africa.

Responsibilities

• Lead support to national partners in implementing integrated approaches to armed violence prevention and WAM in West Africa.
• Support regional dialogue and expert group activities on integrated approaches.
• Coordinate research missions, data collection, interviews and policy outreach.
• Prepare concise summaries and input papers; contribute to training curriculum development.
