Job summary

The Europainstitut / Institute for European Global Studies at the University of Basel invites applications for a student assistant position on the SNF Ambizione project “Droughtscapes of Empire.” You will contribute to research through bibliography work, source tracking, and helping build the project’s database.

You will help organize workshops and conferences, invite visiting speakers, arrange travel and schedules, and provide administrative support in the institute’s secretariat.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a master’s programme at the University of Basel or in the later stages of a bachelor’s degree.
• Very good written and spoken English and good German; French reading knowledge is advantageous.
• Experience with administrative and organizational tasks, especially around events, is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Hands‑on involvement in the project’s research: compiling bibliographies, locating sources, and helping build the project’s source database.
• Assist in organizing workshops and conferences, invitations to visiting speakers, travel and scheduling, together with the project head.
• Provide organizational and administrative support for the institute, including duties in the secretariat and for events hosted by the institute.
