Job summary

TELUS Digital AI Community seeks an AI Speech & Audio Specialist to contribute to ASR, TTS, voice AI, and audio ML projects. You will evaluate, edit, and improve speech data, helping models understand and generate natural voice across languages.

Responsibilities include evaluating AI-generated speech, reviewing ASR outputs, performing professional audio editing, and supporting dataset creation. Remote, contractor role with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a relevant degree or professional experience in audio or speech fields.
• Proficiency with at least one professional audio tool.
• Strong understanding of ASR/TTS and voice technologies.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated speech (TTS) for naturalness, pronunciation accuracy, rhythm, tone, emotion, and overall voice quality.
• Review and improve speech recognition outputs (ASR) by identifying transcription errors, pronunciation issues, accents, and linguistic nuances.
• Perform professional audio editing tasks including segmentation, trimming, noise reduction, silence adjustment, and quality enhancement.
• Analyze audio recordings using waveform and spectrogram-based tools to identify quality issues.
• Support the creation and validation of high-quality speech datasets used for AI model training and evaluation.
• Review voice recordings for clarity, consistency, articulation, and technical quality.
• Perform audio quality checks including loudness levels, background noise detection, clipping, distortion, and export specifications.
• Support voice AI projects including TTS, ASR, voice generation, voice similarity, voice mimicry, and conversational AI evaluation.
• Apply expertise in phonetics, linguistics, audio engineering, or speech technology to improve AI-generated voice experiences
