Zusammenfassung

Finger Lakes Community Health is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to deliver comprehensive dental care, including assessments, cleanings, and patient education. The RDH will work within an integrated health team to provide preventive and therapeutic services across multiple centers.

Responsibilities include taking radiographs, developing treatment plans with the dentist, and maintaining strong infection control and documentation standards.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interactions.
  • Accurate charting and documentation in EHR systems.

Job Summary

The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is responsible for providing comprehensive dental care by performing preventative and therapeutic oral health services. This role involves examining patients, cleaning teeth, and educating patients on oral hygiene practices.

Main Responsibilities
Patient Care and Assessments
  • Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including reviewing patient health history and performing initial evaluations.
  • Perform dental procedures in accordance with patient treatment plan including cleanings and application of preventative materials.
Diagnostic Support and Treatment Planning
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays) to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Identify and record any oral health concerns, such as gingival disease or cavities.
  • Collaborate with the dentist to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Perform periodontal therapy and provide maintenance care for patients with gum disease.
Oral Health Education
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations.
  • Provide personalized oral care instructions based on individual patient needs and treatment plans.
  • Promote preventive care and the importance of regular dental visits.
Exam Room Preparation
  • Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and operatory following dental and clinical infection control procedures.
  • Prepare instruments, materials, and equipment needed for upcoming patient visits.
Dental Record Maintenance
  • Chart and lock notes within timely manner in accordance with Finger Lakes Community Health policies and procedures.
  • Address telephone encounters and actions in the electronic health record system in accordance with Finger Lakes Community Health policies and procedures.
Other Duties
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education & Qualifications:
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene is preferred.
  • Certification or diploma from a NYS qualifying or ADA accredited dental hygiene program.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years in a healthcare or customer service setting, functioning at an independent level with solid foundation of role knowledge preferred.
  • A valid government-issued photo identification document is required.
  • Current CPR certification through a HRSA accepted agency is required (can be provided upon employment).
  • A current, unrestricted, NYS Dental Hygienist license is required.
  • Completion of continuing education in accordance to NYS licensing renewal and privileging requirements.
  • Proficient in navigating and updating electronic health records while maintaining data accuracy.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of dental anatomy, preventive oral care, and infection control procedures, applying this expertise to deliver high-quality patient care and education.
  • Uses interpersonal skills in building relationships across departments.
  • Uses judgement to adapt communication style to various audiences and situations.
  • Excels in ensuring precision in documentation and processes.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting/Standing: Prolonged sitting with occasional standing or walking.
  • Computer Use: Frequent typing and prolonged screen time.
  • Moderate Lifting: Regularly lifting or carrying items weighing between 15-40 pounds.
  • Visual: Clear vision for reading and inspections.
  • Hearing Clarity: Ability to hear conversations in person or in virtual communications.
  • Noise Sensitivity: Work may require filtering background noise to focus on speech or signals.
  • OSHA Level 1
