Job summary

Nestlé Product Technology Center for Coffee is seeking an R&D Specialist for System Science in Orbe, Switzerland. You will build scientific foundations to explain, optimize and predict product, machine and packaging system performance, collaborating with system performance experts, product developers, engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver meaningful results at global scale.

You will design and run experiments, develop predictive models and translate findings into actionable

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of physical chemistry or related science.
• Ability to apply predictive modelling to explain system behaviour.
• Experience with transport phenomena, fluids and packaging.
• Ability to translate complex science for multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Formulating hypotheses linking product, machine and packaging design to beverage performance.
• Designing experiments to reveal flow, mass transfer, extraction, dissolution and foam mechanisms.
• Building predictive, physics-based models to explain system behavior and guide decisions.
• Identifying performance drivers and knowledge gaps to improve system robustness and optimization.
• Creating reusable scientific knowledge to accelerate future research and development.
• Translating findings into clear recommendations for technical integration and performance improvement.

As an R&D Specialist for System Science at Nestlé Product Technology Center for Coffee, your mission is to build the scientific foundations needed to explain, optimize and predict product, machine and packaging system performance. Our teams in Orbe, Konolfingen, Singapore and Marysville lead coffee and beverage R&D for Nestlé markets worldwide.
