Job summary

ETEL offers a 4 to 6 month R&D internship focused on Software – Embedded Security in Môtiers, Switzerland. You will investigate firmware protection, secure boot architectures, and chains of trust while implementing PoC solutions on real hardware and evaluating security benefits for future motion control products.

You will study signing, encryption and secure key management, contributing to protection of ETEL’s software assets. English fluency is required; French is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master student in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++.
• Interest in embedded systems, computer architecture and cybersecurity.
• Familiarity with microcontrollers and debugging tools is a plus.
• Fluent in English; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Study firmware protection mechanisms and perform a state-of-the-art review of embedded security technologies.
• Investigate security features on modern microcontrollers and processors; compare approaches used in industrial systems.
• Study Secure Boot architectures and chains of trust; implement PoC solutions on selected hardware.
• Develop and validate proof-of-concept solutions for firmware authentication, integrity and confidentiality; assess effectiveness for ETEL products.
