Job summary

ETH Zurich's Quantum Device Lab seeks a Cleanroom Fabrication Engineer to lead fabrication and process development for large-scale quantum processor chips.

You will advance TSV integration, improve yield, and ensure high qubit coherence by collaborating with researchers across divisions and facilities at ETH Hönggerberg, IBM Rüschlikon, and PSI Villigen. Master’s degree required; PhD welcome.

Qualifications

• Hands-on cleanroom experience with semiconductor or superconducting processes.
• Familiar with metrology and process control techniques.
• Experience reporting research findings in scientific contexts.

Responsibilities

• Device fabrication: execute and refine micro/nano-fabrication runs.
• Process development: optimize scalable fabrication processes (high-aspect-ratio TSVs, conformal coating).
• Yield improvement: systematic metrology to improve fabrication yield.
• High-coherence compatibility: assess process impact on qubit coherence metrics.
• Documentation: maintain logs and share metrics with quantum device researchers.
