The University of Lucerne is a modern, personal and dynamic human sciences university at the heart of Switzerland and Europe. Our aim is to develop the University of Lucerne into a pioneering, internationally visible centre for research and teaching in the human sciences.

The Faculty of Behavioural Sciences and Psychology conducts innovative research that strengthens professional care in Switzerland and helps position Lucerne as an international centre for research in the human sciences. It currently offers Bachelor's and postgraduate programmes, with a Master's programme set to launch in 2027. The faculty also runs a state-of-the-art practical training clinic and behavioural science laboratories.

Professor of Psychological Methods and Statistics (open rank)

In this role, you will be responsible for the field of statistics and empirical‑experimental research methods. Your proven research and teaching achievements may cover the full range of statistics and research methods in psychology. Your research programme will complement and expand the faculty's existing areas of expertise. You will teach courses on statistics and methods at the bachelor's and master's level and contribute your expertise to the doctoral programme. In addition, you will actively participate in the further development and detailed planning of the curriculum and establish an innovative research programme with international appeal. The establishment and management of a faculty‑wide consulting centre for statistics and methods is desirable.

You have a degree in psychology and a solid background and enjoyment of teaching in the field of psychological methods and statistics. You have relevant publications (peer‑reviewed) and competitively acquired third‑party funding in this field of expertise and have proven teaching expertise. Your experience should include the independent instruction of courses and the supervision of research work (dissertations, bachelor's and master's theses); and at least two years of experience in research after your doctorate. Preference will be given to applicants who already have experience in leading their own research group. Beyond your professional qualifications, you demonstrate a high level of integration skills and a strong willingness to collaborate. You actively participate in the university's self‑governing bodies and are open to inter‑faculty cooperation in teaching and research.

The professorship can be taken up at the level of full professorship, associate professorship or assistant professorship with tenure track. For a full professorship, a completed habilitation or an equivalent scientific qualification is required; for an assistant professorship, a doctorate and at least two years of research experience after the doctorate are expected.

German language skills at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages should be present or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
