Job summary

University of Fribourg invites applications for a position to teach microbiology with a (bio)medical focus at the Bachelor level for Medicine and Biomedical Sciences students, and to contribute to the Master program. The candidate will lead an externally funded, internationally recognized research program.

Qualified MD or PhD holders with a proven teaching track record and the ability to work in a bilingual environment (French/German) are preferred.

The candidate will teach microbiology, with a (bio)medical focus at the Bachelor level to students of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and contribute to the Master program of the University.

• Qualified applicants must have an outstanding track record of research in the field of microbiology that is relevant for human health, human disease and medical sciences.
• The successful candidate, MD or PhD, will develop an internationally recognized competitive research program sustained by external funding. Relevant teaching experience at university level is expected.
• The University of Fribourg is bilingual, French and German. Courses are generally taught in French or German, with some master’s courses taught in English. Administrative languages are German and French. The ideal candidate is expected to speak French or /and German and English. Knowledge of the second language, French or German, (level B1 oral) is expected. If this is not the case, it must be acquired within two years of taking up the position.
