Job summary

DECTRIS is seeking a Product Manager for Specific Solutions to drive customer interactions, balance strategic portfolios, and evaluate customization vs standard products. You will coordinate with customers, sales teams, and technical experts to estimate feasibility, costs, and timelines for novel detector designs.

You will help shape market strategy within an international, high-tech environment and contribute to reference cases from successful custom builds.

Qualifications

• Science/engineering degree or similar; experience in product management or project management is an asset.
• Strong understanding of X-ray technology, vacuum systems, and related equipment.
• Excellent skills in interacting with scientists and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to identify and reduce technical risks and suggest pragmatic solutions.
• Understanding of market trends and customer needs to drive business outcomes.
• Ability to translate market needs into which custom requests are worth pursuing.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple customer requests while meeting deadlines.
• Average travel requirement around 15%.

Responsibilities

• Proactive customer interaction: track upgrade cycles and roadmaps to engage in technical design dialogues pre-tender.
• Strategic portfolio balancing: qualify Specific Solutions projects when standard options are unviable.
• Strategic evaluation: decide if a request is a customized detector or needs a new standard product.
• Requirements engineering: coordinate with customers and Area Sales Managers on detector requirements and setup details.
• Technical feasibility: collaborate to estimate feasibility, risks, effort, time, and costs for novel designs.
• Proposal management: provide Sales with concepts, price estimates, and lead times for winning offers.
• Project oversight: maintain an overview of ongoing projects and inform stakeholders.
• Balancing interests: find pragmatic solutions matching timeline and budget while protecting DECTRIS’ interests.
• Visibility and outreach: represent Specific Solutions at events and convert builds into reference cases.
