Big Science Sweden is seeking a candidate to contribute to CERN's cryogenic process control systems. This position involves software development, hardware installation, and collaboration with the Cryogenics Operations team.

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree with experience or a PhD with limited experience. Eligible applicants must belong to CERN Member States. This is a unique opportunity to support scientific research during Long Shutdown 3.

As a member of our team, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and operational support of CERN’s cryogenics process control systems. You will play an active role in major consolidation projects carried out during Long Shutdown 3, supporting the cryogenic infrastructure of the LHC accelerator as well as the ATLAS and CMS detectors.

This diverse role combines software development, hardware installation, and system integration activities. You will collaborate closely with a wide range of CERN services and work alongside the Cryogenics Operations team to deliver reliable and innovative solutions that support world-leading scientific research.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

• You are a national of aCERN Member State or Associate Member State . Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
• By the application deadline, you have a master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with a maximum of 3 years of professional experience since graduation. You are not eligible with only a bachelor’s degree.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
