Kanton Bern in Bern is seeking an ambitious postdoctoral researcher to develop dual-comb spectroscopy for atmospheric sensing and climate research. The position sits at the interface of laser physics and isotope science, with collaboration across multiple research groups in the Swiss Alps.
You will build a broadband, high-resolution prototype, validate it with calibrated gas samples, and plan first open-path field tests between Zimmerwald Observatory and Jungfraujoch.
We are looking for an ambitious postdoctoral researcher to develop dual-comb spectroscopy for atmospheric sensing and climate research. The position is hosted by the Division of Laser Physics in close collaboration with scientists from Isotope Biogeoscience, Cloud Dynamics, and Atmospheric Dynamics. The project aims to build a broadband, high-resolution optical sensing platform for isotope-resolved measurements of greenhouse gases and other trace gases, including trials towards a unique optical sensing link between Zimmerwald Observatory and the Jungfraujoch High Altitude Research Station at 3,500 metres above sea level in the Swiss Alps.
We are committed to building a diverse research group and especially welcome applications from women and people underrepresented in physical sciences. We are happy to discuss flexible working and support needs.
