Job summary

University of Zurich, Remote Sensing of Water Systems, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in microwave remote sensing to study water systems across terrestrial and aquatic environments. The team applies multi-sensor approaches, including in situ and drone-based methods, to address drought, water balance, and surface water dynamics.

The candidate will conduct independent research, collaborate across projects, publish results, and supervise students.

Qualifications

• PhD in remote sensing, physics, geography, environmental science, or a related field.
• Substantial experience with satellite-based microwave remote sensing (e.g., SAR, GNSS transmissivity and reflectometry, active or passive microwave, altimetry).
• Experience with in situ- and drone-based approaches.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English; German knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in microwave remote sensing of water systems.
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary projects.
• Publish and present scientific results.
• Teach and supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students.
