ETH Zurich is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to advance experimental fracture mechanics. You will lead experiments on architected and soft materials, employing confocal and high-speed imaging to reveal fracture processes.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in mechanics or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical testing and experimental workflows.
• Strong ability to communicate in English and work across disciplines.

Aufgaben

• Lead experimental research on fracture mechanics of advanced materials, including architected and soft materials.
• Use advanced imaging techniques (confocal, high-speed imaging) to study crack-tip behavior.
• Apply image-based measurements (DIC, particle tracking) to quantify displacement, strain, and fracture energy.
• Develop optical methods to characterize interfacial contact, deformation, and friction in soft/architected materials.
• Collaborate with modeling/theory groups and supervise junior researchers (PhD/Master students).
• Contribute to a stimulating, open research environment with interdisciplinary collaboration.
