To support the continued growth of our investment platform, we are looking for an experienced Investmen Operations & Portfolio Specialist to join our Investment team for a 6-month assignment. The role is highly operational and technology-driven, requiring strong investment operations expertise, coding capabilities and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day functioning of the investment platform, ensuring smooth portfolio operations, robust controls and efficient execution of investment processes while contributing to ongoing automation and technology projects.
ROLE
As an Investment operations & Portfolio Specialist, you will work alongside the Investment team to oversee daily investment operations.
A significant part of the role will focus on portfolio monitoring, execution controls, trading oversight, rebalancing processes, portfolio closures and operational risk management. You will also contribute to the testing and implementation of new developments, process improvements and automation initiatives.
We are looking for a candidate who combines strong investment market knowledge with excellent Python skills and a pragmatic, execution-focused mindset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Investment Operations & Controls:
- Monitor daily investment operations and ensure the proper execution of portfolio management processes.
- Perform daily controls covering performance, instrument monitoring, reconciliations, cash balances, liquidity checks, etc.
- Monitor portfolio rebalancing activities and investment implementation workflows.
- Oversee trade lifecycle monitoring and elevate potential issues when required.
- Coordinate and manage portfolio opening and closure processes.
- Support the execution and validation of investment decisions across client portfolios.
- Execute daily and periodic investment risk controls.
- Monitor investment guidelines, allocation constraints and operational risk indicators.
- Investigate and resolve portfolio discrepancies, trading issues and operational breaks.
- Contribute to strengthening the investment control framework and operational procedures.
Automation & Technology:
- Develop and maintain Python-based tools to automate controls, reporting and operational workflows.
- Leverage APIs to improve data collection, portfolio monitoring and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and improve scalability.
- Work closely with Technology teams on system enhancements, new investment product offerings and integrations.
Testing & Project Management:
- Participate in testing new investment features, processes and system developments.
- Define and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios.
- Support project delivery across investment, product and technology teams.
- Ensure successful implementation of enhancements while maintaining operational stability.
Reporting & Stakeholder Support:
- Prepare investment reporting dashboards and management reports.
- Support internal stakeholders with data analysis and operational insights.
- Document processes, controls and testing results.
PROFILE
Experience/Skills required:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in data science, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in portfolio management support, investment operations, trading support, middle office or asset management.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, portfolio management processes and trade execution workflows.
- Hands‑on experience monitoring trading activity and portfolio rebalancing.
- Advanced Python skills with experience automating investment or operational processes.
- Experience working with APIs and financial data integrations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to investigate and resolve operational issues independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong control mindset.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
- Fluent in English, French is a plus.
- Swiss residency (Swiss national or valid work permit).
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience or internships in investment analysis or related fields.
- Experience within a private bank, wealth manager, asset manager or multi‑asset investment team.
- Familiarity with portfolio management systems and order management systems.
- Experience in project delivery, testing and change management.
- Knowledge of ETFs, funds and discretionary portfolio management.
