Zusammenfassung

ETH Zurich is seeking a highly motivated Doctoral Student to join the translational X-ray imaging team at PSI and ETH Zurich. You will contribute to designing and implementing machine-learning-based sparse 3D image reconstruction modalities for fast histopathological assessment of tumor biopsies using X-ray phase-contrast radiography and tomography.

Qualifikationen

• Master or equivalent in physics, engineering or computer science.
• Proficiency in computer vision and machine learning with Python.
• Knowledge of X-ray physics would be beneficial.
• Highly self-motivated, curious and committed, well organized, and able to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).

Aufgaben

• Collect grating interferometry X-ray phase-contrast microCT data of breast tissue biopsies.
• Set up data pipelines for synchrotron and laboratory microCT scans of soft tissue.
• Develop algorithms for reconstruction of virtual histopathology images from sparse phase-contrast CT acquisitions.
• Compare with standard histology and assess algorithm performance.
• Present results at international conferences and internal workshops.
• Summarize results in scientific publications.
• Support teaching activities within the professorship.
