Zusammenfassung

The Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) invites applications for a fully funded PhD position within the ICST project. The work spans composition, instrument design, spatial audio, and performance studies, culminating in a doctoral dissertation.

The successful candidate will collaborate across disciplines, contribute to publications, and engage with international networks. The position is based at ZHdK’s Toni-Areal campus in Zurich and is fully funded for four years.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in Composition, Computer Music, Interactive Media or related field.
• Experience with real-time audio environments and instrument design for object performance.
• Interest in physical computing and spatial audio rendering.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Aufgaben

• Drive artistic design and compositional applications of new interactive performance systems.
• Synthesize findings into a theoretical model integrating post-instrumental and spatial audio practices.
• Document the design process using grounded theory and autoethnography.
• Contribute to publications and conferences (NIME, ICMC, SMC).
• Participate in expert-led workshops assessing practitioners’ experiences.
