Job summary

ETH Zürich's Macromolecular Engineering Laboratory invites applications for a PhD candidate to design and optimize ex vivo organ perfusion platforms. You will work on human and rat liver perfusion, developing hardware, sensors, and control software while collaborating with clinicians and biologists.

The role includes teaching duties and supervision, with a 4-year commitment in a dynamic, international team at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in a relevant engineering field and strong fundamentals in electromechanical design.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, pumps, and control systems is required.
• Fluent in English (oral and written) and able to work in an international team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, assembly, and operation of lab perfusion hardware.
• Develop improved control software and sensor integration for real-time monitoring.
• Collaborate with clinicians and biologists to support perfusion experiments.
• Contribute to teaching duties, student supervision, and practical courses.
