Zusammenfassung

ETH Zurich's Optical Materials Engineering Laboratory seeks a doctoral student to investigate magic-sized semiconductor nanocrystals, focusing on CdSe and beyond, to understand how size, shape, and surface chemistry influence optical properties.

The project combines advanced spectroscopy, cryogenic electron microscopy, and theoretical modeling, offering training in single-particle analysis, materials synthesis, and data-driven approaches within a collaborative, international team at ETH Zurich

Qualifikationen

  • MSc degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, nanoscience, physics or closely related field.
  • Experience with optical spectroscopy or microscopy is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in an international, collaborative research environment.

Aufgaben

  • Characterize semiconductor nanocrystals using complementary optical and structural techniques.
  • Investigate how size, shape, composition and surface chemistry influence optical properties.
  • Perform ensemble and single-particle spectroscopy to quantify heterogeneity and emission dynamics.
  • Contribute to data analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of results.
