KOF Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich invites applications for a PhD Student in Macroeconomic Forecasting and Data Science. The position is available immediately and should be filled as soon as possible.

The institute conducts macroeconomic forecasting and nowcasts the Swiss and international economy using econometric models and data science methods. The role includes developing models, analyzing large datasets, and building reproducible research software.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Data Science, Statistics or closely related quantitative field.
• Excellent academic results and motivation to produce high-quality, policy-relevant research.
• Good command of German is a prerequisite; German and English writing skills emphasized.

Aufgaben

• Participate in preparing the international economic outlook for quarterly KOF forecasts.
• Pursue an excellent PhD dissertation in applied macroeconomics, macroeconometrics, or nowcasting.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate new forecasting and nowcasting models using econometric and ML methods.
• Analyse large-scale macroeconomic and high-frequency datasets to improve forecasting.
• Develop and maintain reproducible code, data pipelines, and research software.
