Job summary

Bell Food Group in Basel is seeking a dedicated OT Engineer to manage and develop production automation within our OT, SCADA, MES and WMS environments. You will closely collaborate with Engineering, IT and Production to advance digitalisation of our production processes.

The role requires background in automation or industrial IT, strong IT skills, and fluency in German with good English. An on-site position with extensive training and personnel development opportunities is offered.

Qualifications

• Completed basic technical training with HF/FH-level specialization in automation or related field.
• Strong IT understanding and experience in automation or industrial IT.
• Good knowledge of IT system management, especially Windows environments, servers and networks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation of OT systems in production, especially SCADA, MES, and WMS.
• Configure, commission and further develop automation solutions; provide 3rd-level support.
• Develop automation concepts and feasibility studies to optimise and digitise production processes.
• Integrate new automation systems into existing landscape; perform functional and integration tests.
• Participate in OT, automation and smart factory projects; take responsibility accordingly.
• Evaluate hardware, control systems and software solutions in collaboration with Engineering, IT and Production.

• Ensuring the reliable operation of our OT systems in the production environment, particularly in the areas of SCADA, MES and WMS systems
• Configuring, commissioning and further developing automation solutions, as well as providing support for technical faults as part of 3rd-level support
• Developing automation concepts and feasibility studies to optimise and digitise our production processes
• Integrating new automation systems into the existing system landscape and carrying out functional and integration tests
• Contributing to and taking responsibility for projects relating to Operational Technology, automation and the smart factory
• Evaluating suitable hardware, control systems and software solutions, and working closely with the Engineering, IT and Production departments

What you bring with you

• Completed basic technical training, for example as an automation technician or in a comparable technical profession, with further training at HF/FH level, for example in automation, systems engineering or a related field, as well as a strong understanding of IT
• Experience in the field of automation or industrial IT, ideally in food production, logistics, process or industrial automation
• Good knowledge of IT system management, particularly Windows environments, servers and networks
• Experience in developing automation concepts, as well as an understanding of the integration and communication between different systems
• Knowledge of PLC programming and visualisation, for example using Siemens S7, TIA Portal or WinCC V7/V8, would be an advantage
• Very good written and spoken German and good written and spoken English
• An independent, structured and solution-oriented approach to work, as well as a willingness to collaborate with different departments
