Zusammenfassung

Rieter is seeking an OT Development Lead to guide a team of about 10 developers on-site in Winterthur and shape the future of digital controls and architecture across our plant automation. You will own OT platform roadmaps, drive PLC/IPC based projects, and collaborate with R&D, IT and product teams to advance AI-enabled shopfloor solutions while ensuring secure, reliable operation.

Fluent English is required; German a plus; this role offers international exposure and opportunities to influence

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation or a related field.
• 7+ years experience in OT/ICS development or industrial automation, including leading projects and teams.
• Proven track record in PLC/IPC-based control projects (IEC 61131-3, Codesys, B&R, Siemens, Beckhoff) and embedded C/C++.
• Experience in designing or evolving control architectures – familiar with TOGAF, ISA-95/99 or comparable models.
• Solid OT security understanding and safe OT/IT integration.
• Exposure to AI-related topics in industrial environments, or motivation to build these skills.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to coach developers and collaborate across R&D, IT, Data and regional organisations.
• English required; German a plus.

Aufgaben

• Lead a team of approx. 10 OT developers on-site and manage OT initiatives globally (PLC, embedded C/C++, IPC).
• Co-ownership of overall strategy for controls and OT platform roadmaps with R&D.
• Drive new control concepts and platform development, including migration roadmaps.
• Ensure development and reliable operation of existing controls, including modernization paths.
• Collaborate with architecture team to align solutions with modern frameworks.
• Contribute to the AI strategy on the shopfloor: expose data and services for AI use cases.
• Participate in Digital Leadership Team and communicate with stakeholders; travel 5–10%.

We are looking for a hands?on OT leader who enjoys building and guiding a team of developers and architects, and who wants to actively shape Rieter’s digital and AI future on the shopfloor.

Your Tasks

Lead and develop a team of approx. 10 OT developers on\\-site and manage OT initiatives globally (PLC, embedded C/C\\+\\+, IPC) for platform and machine?control projects. Take co\\-ownership of Rieter’s overall strategy for controls and OT platform roadmaps. Drive new control concepts together with R\\&D, including platform development and control migration roadmap. Ensure the further development and reliable operation of existing controls, including modernization and migration paths. Work with architecture team to keep our solutions aligned with modern architecture approaches and frameworks. Contribute to Rieter’s AI strategy on the shopfloor: define how control systems expose data and services for AI use cases. Act as part of the Digital Leadership Team, interfacing with Product Management, IT, Data and Automation on roadmaps and platform decisions. Communicate clearly with management and technical stakeholders, represent your domain in steering committees and customer projects. Mobility: approx. 5–10% (visits to R\\&D teams and production sites).

Your Qualifications

Proven track record in PLC/IPC?based control projects (e.g. IEC 61131?3, Codesys, B\\&R, Siemens, Beckhoff) and embedded C/C\\+\\+. Experience in designing or evolving control architectures – ideally with familiarity to frameworks such as TOGAF, ISA?95/99 or comparable reference models. Solid understanding of OT security and safe OT/IT integration. First exposure to AI?related topics in industrial environments (e.g. data pipelines for analytics, condition monitoring, optimization), or strong motivation to build these skills. Strong leadership and communication skills: able to coach developers, shape direction, and collaborate across R\\&D, IT, Data and regional organisations. Comfortable working in an international environment (English required, German a plus).
