The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland seeks a Research Engineer – Nanofabrication to support the PICO facility. You will split time between hands-on cleanroom work and developing digital infrastructure to enable world-class research across academia and industry.

Ideal candidates have a MSc in a technical field, strong Python skills, and experience with cleanroom technologies, direct-write lithography, or semiconductor processing, plus excellent English communication.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in a technical discipline related to electrical engineering, materials science, physics, microengineering or nanotechnology.
• Experience combining cleanroom work with software development and instrumentation.
• Experience programming in Python; familiarity with PHP, databases or web technologies is a plus.
• Strong documentation habits and ability to manage facility usage and invoicing.

Aufgaben

• Develop and optimize nanofabrication processes with a focus on direct-write laser lithography and wet chemical processing.
• Act as technical owner for DWL lithography systems and cleanroom equipment; perform commissioning, maintenance, and user support.
• Develop and maintain software infrastructure for cleanroom operation, including time-tracking, process database, and PICO website.
• Provide technical and administrative support to cleanroom users and organize user training.
• Document workflows, track facility usage, and handle invoicing per funding agency requirements.
• Diagnose problems on laboratory equipment and perform repairs when feasible.
• Support collaborative R&D with PSI groups and external partners; contribute to infrastructure improvements.
• Help evolve the PICO cleanroom infrastructure and its digital ecosystem.
