Job summary

gloor & lang ag is seeking an experienced MES Project Manager for a six-month assignment in Switzerland. The role combines senior project management with deep MES technical expertise to lead complex MES and IT manufacturing initiatives in a GMP environment.

You will coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, manage scope and budgets, and ensure MES integration with SAP, LIMS, and CMMS/Maximo, while guiding qualification activities and operational handover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences or related discipline.
• About 15 years of progressive project management experience with complex cross-functional projects.
• 10+ years MES experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or regulated environments.
• Experience with MES implementations, upgrades and integrations in GMP settings.
• Strong MES architecture, recipes, batch execution and ERP interfaces knowledge.
• Software/tool familiarity: Emerson Syncade; SDLC, GAMP, CSV, 21 CFR Part 11.

For an international Life Sciences manufacturing environment in Switzerland, we are looking for an experienced MES Project Manager for a 6-month temporary assignment.

The role combines senior project management responsibilities with strong functional and technical expertise in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). You will lead complex MES and IT manufacturing initiatives, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders and support the local MES organization during an important project phase.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead complex MES and IT manufacturing projects from initiation and planning through implementation, deployment and handover to operations
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, risks, dependencies and governance
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Manufacturing, MS&T, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and IT
• Act as a key interface between local stakeholders and global/enterprise MES teams
• Coordinate MES requirements, functional design, electronic recipe development, testing, deployment and operational handover
• Ensure integration of MES with manufacturing equipment and enterprise systems such as SAP, LIMS, CMMS/Maximo, document management, historians and reporting platforms
• Support qualification and validation activities in accordance with SDLC, GAMP, CSV, GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements
• Coordinate and prioritize activities within the MES team, including project work, enhancements, operational support and issue resolution
• Support business continuity, inspection readiness and the stable transition of project deliverables into operations
• Drive stakeholder communication, decision-making, change management and executive-level project reporting

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences or a related discipline
• Around 15 years of progressive project or program management experience, including complex cross-functional projects
• Around 10 years of substantial MES experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, Life Sciences manufacturing or another highly regulated industry
• Proven experience with MES implementations, upgrades, enhancements, integrations and transition into operational support within a GMP environment
• Strong functional and technical knowledge of MES platforms
• Hands‑on experience with Emerson Syncade is strongly preferred
• Good understanding of MES architecture, electronic recipes, batch execution and reporting, equipment integration and interfaces to ERP, LIMS, CMMS and related systems
• Working knowledge of SDLC, GAMP, CSV, GxP, data integrity and 21 CFR Part 11
• Strong project leadership, stakeholder management, communication and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to lead experienced technical specialists in a matrix organization and influence without direct authority
• PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum or comparable project management certification is an advantage
