Jobbeschreibung

Agricultural greenhouses are key toward a sustainable food supply, however they have significant energetic needs due to heating and artificial lightening. There is a push from governments, retailers and consumers to reduce carbon footprint of greenhouses. Voltiris enables double-use of large greenhouses surfaces to produce electricity without impacting their high agricultural yield. Voltiris introduces a solar panel design to generate electricity from the part of sunlight's spectrum that is unused for crop growth.

Serial Production | Manufacturing Methods | Product Industrialization

The Role

Voltiris is seeking a Mechanical Industrialization Engineer to translate mechanical designs into robust, repeatable, and scalable production solutions.

You will own the industrialization of mechanical components and assemblies from design review through prototype builds, first production batches, and serial ramp-up. Working closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, suppliers, Production, and Installation, you will ensure that products are practical to manufacture, assemble, transport, install, and scale.

You will challenge designs, define manufacturing and assembly methods, develop tooling, support suppliers, and ensure that production feedback leads to lasting product and process improvements.

Your success will be measured by improvements in manufacturability, assembly time, production consistency, cost, and readiness for scale.

What We're Offering
  • Direct ownership of the industrialization of mechanical components and assemblies
  • A central role between Engineering, Supply Chain, suppliers, Production, and Installation
  • The authority to challenge designs that are difficult, costly, or slow to manufacture and assemble
  • Responsibility for manufacturing methods, tooling, assembly processes, and production readiness
  • Direct involvement in prototype builds, first production batches, and supplier ramp-up
  • A hands‑on position combining CAD, manufacturing engineering, tooling, supplier coordination, and field feedback
  • The opportunity to establish scalable industrialization methods within a growing climate‑tech company
Your Missions
  • Industrialize mechanical components and assemblies for serial production
  • Review designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, reliability, cost, and scalability
  • Translate engineering concepts into practical manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Define production methods, assembly sequences, tooling, fixtures, and required equipment
  • Prepare and maintain production drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and work instructions
  • Define critical dimensions, tolerances, interfaces, and assembly requirements
  • Collaborate with suppliers on manufacturing feasibility, process selection, and design improvements
  • Prepare and support prototype builds, first production batches, and production ramp-up
  • Follow production trials and resolve process weaknesses, bottlenecks, and recurring assembly difficulties
  • Develop production, assembly, inspection, and installation tools using CAD and rapid prototypingEnsure that design changes are transferred clearly and consistently into production
  • Turn supplier, production, and installation feedback into lasting product and process improvements
Hard Skills We Need
Industrialization and Manufacturing
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field
  • At least six months to one year of professional experience in a serial‑production environment
  • Practical experience in industrialization, manufacturing engineering, production methods, or product transfer
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet‑metal forming, welding, mechanical assembly, surface treatments, plastic injection and profile‑based components
  • Ability to translate a mechanical design into a repeatable manufacturing and assembly process
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, first production batches, or production ramp-up
  • Experience working with external suppliers or contract manufacturers is a strong advantage
CAD, Tooling, and Production Documentation
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, fits, and mechanical interfaces
  • Ability to review CAD models and drawings for manufacturability and assembly
  • Experience with CAD software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, Creo, or similar
  • Ability to design tooling, fixtures, assembly aids, and prototypes
  • Familiarity with PLM, ERP, bills of materials, or configuration‑management systems
  • Ability to create clear production, assembly, and installation instructions

Fusion 360 is used internally at Voltiris.

Production Readiness and Problem Solving
  • Ability to identify whether an issue originates from the design, supplier, manufacturing process, assembly method, or installation process
  • Ability to use measurements, production observations, and practical evidence to support technical decisions
  • Familiarity with structured problem‑solving methods such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, or 8D is an advantage
  • Basic experience with first‑article inspection, production controls, or non-conformities is an advantage
How You Work
  • Precise and quality‑conscious, catching errors before they become problems
  • Evaluates information critically, questioning assumptions before drawing conclusions
  • Skilled at shaping disparate inputs into one coherent, workable process
  • Decisive and independent, quick to set improvements in motion
  • Not afraid to challenge established methods when a better way is evident
  • Fluent in English; French is an asset
  • Willing to travel regularly to suppliers and project sites
What Success Looks Like After 12 Months
  • New mechanical products follow a clear industrialization and production‑readiness process
  • Designs are reviewed systematically for manufacturability and assembly before release
  • Manufacturing methods, tooling, and production documentation are defined before serial deployment
  • First production batches and design changes are introduced through a structured ramp‑up process
  • Suppliers receive clear technical requirements and produce components consistently
  • Assembly time, production consistency, and manufacturability have measurably improved
  • You are the first point of contact when a mechanical design needs to become a scalable production solution
Our Offer
  • A central role in the transition from product development to serial production
  • Real ownership of mechanical industrialization, production methods, and manufacturing readiness
  • Direct access to founders and close collaboration with Engineering and Supply Chain
  • A varied role combining CAD, manufacturing, tooling, supplier management, prototyping, and field engagement
  • Equity; if Voltiris wins, you win with it
  • A front‑row seat to one of Switzerland's most promising climate‑tech companies

Location: Lausanne - Epalinges, with the possibility of hybrid working and regular travel to suppliers and installation sites.

If you have taken a mechanical product from design through production launch and helped make it manufacturable, repeatable, and ready to scale, that is exactly what we want to hear about.

Education: Bachelor/Master/PhD. Languages: Englisch (fluent), Französisch (elementary)
