Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced VAT Manager to join the tax function and take ownership of indirect tax matters across multiple jurisdictions. In this role, you will provide VAT guidance to business and finance teams, oversee compliance activities, support period-end reporting processes, and contribute to strategic tax initiatives.
This position offers broad exposure to international VAT topics, regulatory developments, and cross-functional collaboration in a global business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide VAT and indirect tax guidance to finance and operational stakeholders across the organisation
- Assess the VAT implications of new business activities, transactions, and market expansions
- Monitor changes in VAT legislation, regulations, and case law, evaluating their impact and recommending appropriate actions
- Oversee VAT compliance activities, ensuring timely and accurate filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Maintain relationships with tax authorities, external advisors, and auditors
- Coordinate and support VAT audits and tax authority inquiries
- Partner with finance teams during monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
- Support the documentation of indirect tax positions, registrations, and compliance requirementsLead or contribute to tax-related projects and process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to promote awareness of indirect tax risks and opportunities
Your Profile
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Law, Economics, or a related field
- Strong professional experience in VAT / indirect taxation within an international company, consulting firm, or tax advisory environment
- Solid knowledge of European and international VAT regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex tax matters
- Proactive, hands-on, and solutions-oriented approach
- Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across different functions and seniority levels
- Experience working with auditors, tax authorities, and external advisors
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal
- German is considered an advantage
- Experience with ERP systems and international business environments is beneficial
