Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking a Systems Engineer to extend and maintain a scalable, multi‑data‑center infrastructure with on‑prem and cloud components. You will manage blockchain nodes, fine‑tune Kubernetes clusters, and ensure secure operation of backends using HAProxy, Nginx/Apache and database replication.

You will also improve monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, and document infrastructure as code while staying current with cloud-native tech.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in computer science or 5+ years in systems engineering.
• Strong Linux system administration experience and security mindset.
• Experience with open-source ecosystems and cloud/networking basics.
• Knowledge of Linux certifications is a plus.
• Fluent English; German is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Extend and maintain a scalable, heterogeneous infrastructure system over multiple data centers with switches, firewalls, HSMs, as well as physical servers, virtual devices, and cloud.
• Extend and maintain existing and new blockchain nodes.
• Improve and maintain Kubernetes clusters.
• Contribute to hybrid infrastructure projects.
• Ensure the secure operation of backends (advanced load balancing, failover with HAProxy, Apache, and Nginx, database server replication).
• Proactively control and improve existing monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting infrastructure (Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Grafana).
• Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
• Drive integration of secure technologies and applications.
• Patch management; continually deploy new firmware and software.
• Maintain and create technical documentation of infrastructure as code/data.
• Stay technically up to date on latest technologies and cloud-native environments.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science or at least 5 years of experience in systems engineering.
• In‑depth, hands‑on Linux system administration skills; Linux certifications (LFCS, LFCE, RHCS ... etc.) are a plus.
• Great interest in servers, automation, and IT security.
• General enthusiasm for open‑source software.
• Networking skills (switches, firewalls, VPNs, network protocols).
• Knowledge of the existing open‑source ecosystem (Linux, Unix, HAProxy, Nginx, Apache, Squid, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, Grafana, Ansible, Docker).
• Proven experience in systems engineering and defensive security (DDoS protection, intrusion prevention).
• Above‑average project management and organizational skills.
• High level of integrity and quality awareness.
• Cloud (Azure, GCP) experience is an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of English; German is beneficial.
• Knowledge in blockchain technologies and crypto assets is desirable.
