Job summary

NTT DATA in the Winterthur region of Switzerland is seeking a Baremetal & Linux/KVM Engineer to support day-2 operations for Linux servers and KVM virtualization. You will maintain compute services, patch systems, monitor performance, and drive automation to improve reliability.

The role requires strong Linux administration, hardware awareness with Dell PowerEdge and Lenovo ThinkSystem, and German language proficiency at B2 level for collaboration with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Linux-based enterprise environments and virtualized infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Linux administration, server hardware, and KVM virtualization.
• Experience troubleshooting compute infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
• Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact service delivery.
• Strong analytical skills and adherence to operational best practices.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Linux server environments and KVM-based virtualization platforms.
• Perform day-2 operational activities including system maintenance, patching, health checks, and performance monitoring.
• Manage server hardware lifecycle activities across Dell PowerEdge and Lenovo ThinkSystem platforms.
• Coordinate firmware updates, operating system maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, hardware, and virtualization-related issues.
• Support operational automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in incident management, problem resolution, service reviews, and change implementation activities.
• Maintain operational standards, documentation, and governance processes to ensure service stability and reliability.
