Job summary

Finders SA seeks a pragmatic Legal Advisor for a Swiss financial institution in Geneva. You will provide day-to-day legal guidance across Trade Finance, Wealth Management and Treasury, drafting and negotiating banking documents and coordinating with authorities and external counsel.

The role offers varied exposure to commercial and regulatory matters in an international banking environment, with close collaboration across departments and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Swiss-qualified lawyer, ideally with Brevet d'avocat.
• Proven experience in Swiss banking law.
• Commodity Trade Finance experience is essential.
• Good understanding of Swiss banking regulations and related regulatory/compliance matters.
• Strong legal drafting, research and analytical skills.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial and banking documentation.
• Pragmatic, commercially-minded approach with sound judgement.
• Well organised and able to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent written and spoken French and English.
• Swiss resident.

Position

Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, you will provide day-to-day legal advice across the Bank, helping the business navigate legal and regulatory matters while taking a practical and solutions-focused approach. You will work closely with colleagues across the business, particularly Commodity Trade Finance, Wealth Management, Financial Institutions and Compliance, and will also liaise with clients, external counsel and Swiss authorities where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and practical guidance to the Bank's various departments on Swiss and international legal matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate banking agreements, security documentation and other legal documents, particularly in relation to Commodity Trade Finance and Wealth Management.
• Support the Bank on legal matters involving clients, counterparties, authorities, courts and bankruptcy offices.
• Advise on client succession and estate-related matters.
• Review internal policies, directives and standard documentation and ensure they remain aligned with applicable legislation.
• Monitor developments in Swiss banking legislation and regulation and advise the Head of Legal & Compliance on their impact on the Bank.
• Work with Compliance on cross-functional legal and regulatory matters.
• Coordinate external lawyers on specialist advice, disputes and litigation where required.
• Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, reports and other legal documentation.
• Provide legal and regulatory training to colleagues where appropriate.
• Act as a deputy to the Head of Legal & Compliance on legal matters when required.
