Job summary

ETH Zurich Space in Zurich seeks a Flight Software Systems Engineer for space missions. You will contribute from early concept and software architecture through implementation, integration, verification, and operations.

Bring 5+ years of embedded/flight software experience, strong C/C++ skills, and a Master’s degree. You will work with avionics, payload teams and external platforms in a dynamic international environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional flight software or embedded software experience.
• Strong programming skills in C and C++ for embedded targets.
• Experience with real-time operating systems, embedded Linux, or bare-metal development.
• Ability to translate requirements into software specifications and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of flight software developments and interface with systems engineering, avionics, and payload teams.
• Translate mission concepts into spacecraft behaviors and define software architectures and interfaces.
• Develop embedded flight software in C/C++ and supporting tools (e.g., Python).
• Set up and maintain flight software testbeds and verification activities.
• Establish baselines, versioning, CI, and requirements traceability.
