TWINT seeks a Lead Database Architect to define the target architecture on Azure and OCI, based in Zurich or Bern. You will drive the database strategy, guide DB engineers, and rearchitect systems to ensure scalable, secure payment platforms across TWINT.

The Technology & Architecture Team is a pioneering competence centre, that unites senior professionals from different architectural backgrounds. Together we guide the development and continuous improvement of a high-performance, scalable and secure payment system. In pursuit of our vision, we are searching for Lead Database Architect (80-100%), based in Zurich or Bern.
You are a member of the "Technology & Architecture" team and define the target architecture of TWINT on Azure and OCI together with the other lead architects
Your experience and knowledge of best practices in building resilient and scalable systems will help us make the right architectural decisions
Responsible for the strategy and overall engineeringof DBs across all TWINT systems
Rearchitecting current systems, selection of optimal persistence layer types on a use-case basis
Responsible for the lifecycle and demand/forecast management, as well as dynamic scaling for all used databases
Functional Management over DB engineers and architects in the company
Support engineering teams during feature implementation and lead our architects across teams via the DB chapter
Establish and govern data management, data architecture, and lineage
Completed computer science degree (Bachelor or Master) with several years of hands‑on and project experience, ideally in the payment environment
Profound, multi‑year practical and project experience in database engineering in a business and technically complex environment, software engineering skills advantageous
Substantial experience in Oracle & OCI engineering (ExaData), as well as the Azure DB offerings
Experience in setting up performance‑optimised data models
Hands‑on attitude, taking responsibility and displaying personal initiative, independence and entrepreneurial spirit
Strong leadership and technical leadership skills
Analytical and structured way of working, practice‑oriented solution finding and excellent communication skills
Proficient level of English (German advantageous)
