Job summary

The Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, is seeking a Senior/Lead Data & Analytics Engineer to lead data platforms and analytics services within the MED IT unit. You will drive architecture, data pipelines, and AI/ML initiatives to support central banks and international stakeholders.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in data engineering, strong data modelling and SQL skills, and proven leadership in complex environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• More than six years’ relevant experience in data and analytics engineering.
• Experience supervising junior colleagues.
• Advanced ability to acquire, organise, protect, process, and analyse data.
• Proficiency with querying databases and BI tools.
• Experience modelling data flows and documenting data architectures.
• Ability to design architectures and develop software.
• Project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to interpret policies and align with organisational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Partner with MED stakeholders to define IT strategy and target architecture.
• Gather requirements and translate them into IT solutions.
• Lead design and implementation of data and analytics applications and services.
• Support official statistics data collection and SDMx standards.
• Oversee data collection mechanisms and maintain data quality.
• Apply advanced AI/ML methods to automate and enhance operations.
• Provide technical guidance and oversee production support.
• Support IT projects including resource planning and steering materials.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships and mentor junior colleagues.
