The CMS collaboration at CERN is upgrading its Level-1 trigger using FPGA-based processors and high-speed networks to enable advanced online algorithms.

You will contribute to algorithm development for L1, implement firmware, and evaluate physics performance while coordinating with other developers and performing hardware testing and integration. The role involves supervision of a small team and presenting results at international venues.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree with 2–6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with up to 3 years of experience
• Experience in hardware testing and system installation is preferred
• Ability to present results at international meetings and conferences

Aufgaben

• Contribute to the development of algorithms for the CMS Level-1 trigger
• Integrate and maintain contributions from other developers
• Evaluate the physics performance and monitor systems
• Participate in hardware testing and installation of the upgraded trigger system
• Collaborate with CMS L1 trigger groups at CERN
• Present project progress and results at collaboration meetings and conferences
• This role includes team supervision responsibilities
