Job summary

Fortil is expanding its activities in the canton of Vaud and seeks a Software Engineer – ATM Surveillance Data Processing (M/F). You will join a multidisciplinary team modernizing critical software systems in a safety-critical context, driving the full engineering lifecycle from requirements to verification and compliance.

You will design and implement high-availability backend services in Java, apply TDD/BDD, and contribute to service-oriented architectures while ensuring reliability,

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Java development.
• Spring Framework and Maven experience.
• Experience in complex backend applications and distributed systems.
• Good understanding of Linux and networking concepts.
• Proficient in English; Swiss or EU citizenship.
• Autonomy in Agile environments.
• Ability to translate operational needs into software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Modernize legacy systems and decompose services.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-availability backend applications in Java.
• Contribute to the evolution of service-oriented and distributed architectures.
• Apply TDD and BDD methodologies and define automated testing strategies.
• Develop automated test suites using Java and Cucumber.
• Produce and maintain software requirements and design documentation.
• Participate in verification, validation, and compliance activities.
• Support integration activities and deployment preparation.
• Collaborate with software, systems, and verification engineers.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, implementation and verification artifacts.
