Zusammenfassung

Roche seeks an Environmental Regulatory Affairs intern to work with our global regulatory experts, advancing compliance and sustainability across pharmaceutical operations. The role is based in Basel and offers hands-on exposure to global chemical regulations.

You will contribute to regulatory analysis, dossier support, monitoring studies, and development of a standardized compliance framework, collaborating with Pharma Sites, Diagnostics, and Diabetes Care teams.

Qualifikationen

  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from a Master’s degree program in Environmental Regulations, Bio-engineering, Medical technical engineering Law with a focus on Env Law or Regulatory compliance
  • Masters can be recently graduated within the last 12 months of starting the internship; PhD students must be enrolled for the duration of the internship
  • Strong analytical, collaboration, communication and self-motivation skills

Aufgaben

  • Regulatory Analysis & Impact Mapping: Monitor and analyze key global and regional regulations to assess their impact on Roche Pharma operations.
  • Dossier & Registration Support: Gather data for chemical and biocide registration dossiers in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • External Study & Compliance Monitoring: Track testing studies conducted by external service providers for global chemical regulations.
  • Compliance Framework Development: Define and digitally implement a standardized global compliance oversight tool.
  • Cross-Functional & Divisional Engagement: Engage with Pharma Sites, Diagnostics, and Diabetes Care to foster regulatory alignment and knowledge sharing

Opportunity

In this role, you will work directly alongside our Environmental Regulatory Experts to navigate highly complex global chemical policies, contributing to the compliance and sustainability of our life-changing products. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in global environmental regulatory affairs within a leading pharmaceutical setting. Supported by senior experts, you will drive specific initiatives, including:

  • Regulatory Analysis & Impact Mapping: Monitor and analyze key global and regional regulations (such as EU/China REACH, Biocides, and EPR) to assess and document their impact on Roche Pharma operations.
  • Dossier & Registration Support: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and technical experts (e.g., ecotoxicologists) to gather data required for chemical and biocide registration dossiers.
  • External Study & Compliance Monitoring: Assist in tracking and monitoring testing studies conducted by external service providers for global chemical regulations.
  • Compliance Framework Development: Support the definition and digital implementation of a standardized global compliance oversight tool to ensure operational adherence.
  • Cross-Functional & Divisional Engagement: Actively participate in projects involving Pharma Sites, Diagnostics, and Diabetes Care to foster regulatory alignment and knowledge sharing
Who you are Education

You are currently enrolled in, or have graduated from, a Master’s degree program in Environmental Regulations, Bio-engineering, Medical technical engineering Law with a focus on Env Law or Regulatory compliance, Chemistry or Chemical engineering (with knowledge of product regulations). Masters can be recently graduated within the last 12 months of starting the internship. PhD students must be enrolled for the entire duration of the internship.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Competencies
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyse complex regulations and regulatory guidance documents and translate them into easily understandable concepts.
  • Strong Collaboration: Team player who is comfortable working in a matrixed, multinational environment and building networks across different global sites.
  • Communication & Presentation: Fluent in English (written and verbal) with an aptitude for presenting complex technical data clearly.
  • Proactive & Independent: Self-motivated to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion with guidance from mentors and subject matter experts.
  • Digital Proficiency: Strong competency with Google and or Microsoft Workspace, AI tools, and data analysis software, with an aptitude for working with regulatory compliance databases.
Additional Information

Due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens must be actively enrolled for the entire duration of the internship and provide an official university certificate stating that the internship is a mandatory part of their studies. This internship position is located in Basel. The start date for the internship is from January 2027 with a duration of 12 months. Part-time employment and writing a thesis during the internship is not possible.
