École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL, invites applications for a Mechanical Engineer at the Technology Platform for Hydraulic Machines. You will join a team that tests large hydraulic models, maintains three test rigs, and ensures data quality under contractual expectations.

The role emphasizes experimental methods, software upgrades, and instrument development, with collaboration across researchers and industry partners. Fluency in French and English is required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree EPF, HES or equivalent.
• Experience with experimental techniques and National Instruments systems.
• Curiosity and ability to design innovative test setups and instrumentation.
• Experience with LabVIEW and control system programming is a plus.
• Fluency in French and English.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects with clients, suppliers, and internal PTMH team, including model tests and data reports.
• Maintain and upgrade the experimental infrastructure to ensure reliable testing platforms.
• Improve installations, including software and metrological adaptations.
• Define processes to ensure service quality and perform root cause analyses.
• Support training of new test engineers and assist EPFL students in labs.
• Occasionally monitor tests and perform validation at partner labs or hydropower sites.
