The role collaborates with systems and mechanical engineering teams and customers to plan, develop, integrate, and test electric and hybrid‑electric propulsion

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
• 4+ years of professional experience.
• Background in electro‑mechanical machinery, power electronics, power distribution, and controls.
• Experience with electric propulsion system design, analysis, simulation, integration, and testing.
• Experience with the analysis of electric propulsion system failure mode(s) as well as architectural trade studies.
• Excellent English language skills, verbal and written.

Aufgaben

• Lead requirements and architecture definition for propulsion systems for unconventional electric and hybrid‑electric drones and aircraft.
• Work with Systems Engineering team to incorporate electric and hybrid propulsion into requirements and Systems Engineering tools.
• Define downstream testing requirements for verification and validation of propulsion systems.
• Document requirements and architecture designs for design reviews.
• Lead electric and hybrid propulsion system design through CoDR, PDR, and CDR.
• Contribute to hands‑on work to integrate propulsion subsystems into prototype aircraft or ground test stands.
• Support execution of test activities (test bench and on‑aircraft testing)

Join our highly talented and motivated team, and work on challenging tasks developing cutting‑edge systems, ranging from new‑design eVTOL aircraft to solar‑powered aircraft and other “advanced air mobility” (AAM) vehicles.

The person filling this position will work very closely with our systems engineering and mechanical engineering teams, as well as our customers, to plan, develop, integrate, and test electric and hybrid‑electric propulsion systems into prototype aircraft.

Your Contributions:

• Lead requirements and architecture definition for propulsion systems for unconventional electric and hybrid‑electric drones and aircraft.
• Work with Systems Engineering team to incorporate electric and hybrid propulsion into requirements and Systems Engineering tools.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
• 4+ years of professional experience.
• Background in electro‑mechanical machinery, power electronics, power distribution, and controls
• Experience with electric propulsion system design, analysis, simulation, integration, and testing, including advanced components (motors, generators, power control electronics, conductors, and energy storage devices.)
• Experience with the analysis of electric propulsion system failure mode(s) as well as architectural trade studies.
• Excellent English language skills, verbal and written

Desirable Qualifications:

• Familiarity with advanced electric propulsion system components:
  • Motors and motor controls (50kW and up)
  • High voltage (50V ~ 1500V DC, or 25 V ~1000V AC RMS) protective devices
  • Power electronics
  • High voltage distribution harnesses and interconnects
  • High and low speed rotating machinery
• Experience with various combustion engine types, including integration as part of a hybrid‑electric propulsion system.
• Familiarity with modern vehicle databus technology, e.g. CAN
• Particular experience with managing thermal issues in electric and hybrid propulsion systems
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and tools
• Knowledge of aerospace certification requirements
