Job summary

UN Secretariat in Geneva seeks a Senior Medical Officer to lead the Medical Services Section, overseeing comprehensive occupational health services, clinic operations, and medical administration. The role includes budgeting, staff supervision, and advising on health-related policies in coordination with the Medical Director.

The incumbent will ensure high-quality service delivery, implement health and safety programs, and liaise with host country authorities and external partners.

Qualifications

• MD degree with residency/internship in a medical specialty (preferably internal or OSH).
• Ten years of progressive clinical experience required, with at least five in Occupational Safety and Health.
• Two years of managerial experience in the medical field including budgeting and staff supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of occupational health services and clinic operations.
• Develop and implement health and safety programs and ergonomic initiatives.
• Manage medical entitlements, sick leave certification, and return-to-work procedures.
• Advise senior management and participate in policy development with DHMOSH.
• Supervise Medical Services Section staff and manage budgeting and performance reporting.
• Represent MSS in forums and liaise with external stakeholders.
