Job description

Take the lead in shaping the international marketing strategy of a growing B2B food ingredients distribution business operating across multiple markets. In this senior leadership role, you will connect strategic marketing with commercial growth, business development, and global brand positioning. You will work closely with sales teams, suppliers, country organisations, and senior stakeholders to identify opportunities and strengthen customer relationships. From developing compelling value propositions to launching international marketing initiatives, your work will directly contribute to market expansion and business performance. You will also drive supplier partnerships, corporate communications, digital visibility, and high-impact customer experiences. If you combine strong commercial instincts with deep food industry knowledge and an entrepreneurial mindset, this opportunity offers significant autonomy and international influence.

Accountabilities
  • Lead international marketing strategy: Develop and execute a global marketing strategy aligned with commercial priorities, business development objectives, and long-term growth plans.

  • Drive category development and business growth: Identify opportunities across product categories, business units, and international markets, leveraging organisational synergies to accelerate commercial performance.

  • Translate market intelligence into action: Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities, converting insights into actionable marketing and business development initiatives.

  • Strengthen sales enablement: Collaborate with sales and business development teams to support customer acquisition, market penetration, and commercial growth through compelling value propositions, sales tools, presentations, and marketing materials.

  • Build strategic supplier partnerships: Develop and implement joint marketing programmes with key suppliers, including co-marketing campaigns, supplier branding, communication concepts, and category development initiatives.

  • Own global brand positioning: Define and evolve the corporate brand strategy, positioning, and identity, ensuring consistent execution across markets, communication channels, and customer touchpoints.

  • Lead corporate communications: Oversee internal communications, external communications, and employer branding initiatives to strengthen brand awareness, reputation, and organisational engagement.

  • Manage digital marketing and external partners: Improve the organisation's digital presence across websites, social media, and other digital communication channels while coordinating agencies, designers, and specialist partners.

  • Develop international event strategies: Plan and oversee trade fairs, customer seminars, supplier conferences, webinars, and internal events to strengthen relationships and generate new commercial opportunities.

  • Maximise marketing and event ROI: Establish effective planning, lead generation, performance measurement, and follow-up processes to ensure marketing activities deliver measurable results.

  • Support regional marketing execution: Equip local country organisations with best practices, tools, and guidance to deliver effective regional campaigns while maintaining global consistency.

  • Influence senior-level decisions: Work closely with commercial leadership and other key stakeholders to shape market development priorities, strengthen customer and supplier engagement, and support international expansion.

Requirements
  • Mandatory education: A degree in Food Technology is essential for this position.

  • Extensive professional experience: At least 10 years of progressive experience in B2B marketing, business development, commercial leadership, or marketing roles closely connected to business development.

  • Relevant industry background: Strong experience in food ingredients, flavours, nutrition, specialty chemicals, life sciences, or related B2B industries. Experience in ingredient distribution, specialty distribution, or B2B trading environments is particularly desirable.

  • International expertise: Demonstrated experience working across multiple markets and cultures, with the ability to adapt marketing strategies to different commercial environments and customer needs.

  • Strategic marketing leadership: A proven track record of developing and implementing marketing programmes that generate measurable commercial outcomes and support business growth.

  • Strong commercial acumen: Ability to connect marketing strategy with revenue opportunities, customer acquisition, category development, market penetration, and broader business objectives.

  • Technical product communication: Proven ability to translate complex or technical product features into clear, compelling customer value propositions and commercially relevant messaging.

  • Supplier and stakeholder management: Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, communication, and influencing skills, with the confidence to collaborate across organisational levels and external partnerships.

  • Project management and execution: Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple international initiatives, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver projects effectively.

  • Analytical and data-driven mindset: Ability to interpret market intelligence, evaluate campaign performance, measure return on investment, and use data to inform strategic decisions.

  • Entrepreneurial leadership style: A proactive, hands-on, and results‑oriented approach, with the ability to combine strategic thinking with practical execution and operate autonomously.

  • Communication and presentation skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop persuasive presentations and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.

  • Language proficiency: Fluent English is essential. Additional European languages are an advantage.

  • Additional qualifications: Further education or professional qualifications in marketing are beneficial but not mandatory.
