EPFL invites applications for the head of the Central Electron Microscopy Facility (CIME). You will lead a multidisciplinary team and oversee SEM, TEM, FIB, cryo-EM and tomography projects while developing a strategic vision and ensuring scientific and operational excellence.

The role requires a PhD in a relevant field, proven leadership, and strong communication in English; knowledge of French is an asset. Attractive salary and EPFL environment offered.

Qualifikationen

• PhD or equivalent experience in materials science, physics, chemistry or related fields.
• Proven expertise in advanced electron microscopy techniques (TEM, SEM, FIB, tomography, cryo-EM or in-situ EM).
• Active engagement in the EM community with ability to build scientific collaborations.
• Experience in teaching and supervising at Master/Doctoral level.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.

Aufgaben

• Lead and manage the CIME team (scientific, technical, and administrative staff).
• Oversee maintenance, upgrade and operation of EM infrastructure (SEM, TEM, FIB, cryo-EM).
• Develop and implement the strategic vision of the platform with key stakeholders.
• Ensure efficient user support, training, and education at all levels.
• Foster collaborations across EPFL schools and external partners.
• Manage the operational budget, resource allocation and long-term investment.
