The Planning and Material Management function within our Global Instrumentation Network (GIN)—part of Global Operations—ensures manufacturing continuity across EMEA, NAM, and APAC. By seamlessly connecting our global network of suppliers and production resources, we ensure flawless product lifecycles, maximized efficiency, and unyielding market supply of critical diagnostics products worldwide.
Operating as a Global Sourcing and Material Manager across our EMEA, NAM, and APAC regions, you will partner with global procurement and category management to orchestrate seamless material flows throughout the manufacturing network. This role entails managing critical A-supplier portfolios to maximize performance, achieve TCO efficiencies, proactively mitigate VUCA and geopolitical risks, and drive tangible gains in factory productivity.
Strategic Partnering & Portfolio Management: Collaborate with Global Procurement and Category Management to manage key A-suppliers by developing tailored sourcing strategies and ensuring execution via contractual agreements (e.g., multi-sourcing, VMI, framework contracts) to optimize TCO and long-term supply resilience.
NPI & Product Lifecycle: Engage early in development projects—shaping supplier selection and initial procurement parameters for new product launches, technical transfers, and phase-outs to configure a sustainable inbound supply chain.
Supplier, Risk & Network Planning: Actively support global supplier relationship management, joint QBRs, and synchronized long-term demand planning with supplier capacities to mitigate VUCA/geopolitical risks, enhance resilience, and translate network requirements into actionable specifications.
Operational Excellence: Orchestrate end-to-end requisition-to-order cycles by executing standardized tactical workflows to consistently achieve operational KPIs, maximize financial value, and advance sustainability goals while synchronizing supplier capacity with global manufacturing requirements.
Escalations & Risk Mitigation: Manage Tier 1 and 2 supplier escalations by serving as the primary interface for dispute resolution and bottleneck management—deploying predictive risk frameworks to resolve severe material shortages and secure uninterrupted supply across the network.
Process Excellence & Leadership: Modernize sourcing processes and maximize portfolio efficiency through standardized specifications and cross-site best practices—identifying savings, mitigating risks, and establishing scalable capabilities for future growth.
Technology & Operational Excellence: Drive the adoption of innovative procurement and planning tools (e.g., SAP ERP MM/PP, VMI setups, and iCollab supplier portals or OMP).
Education & Professional Experience: University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Engineering required (Master's preferred), along with 5 to 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, direct procurement, supplier management, or supply chain engineering within a complex manufacturing or life sciences network.
Track Record & Category Expertise: Demonstrated success leading cross-functional sourcing projects, partnering with global teams, and managing high-complexity spend portfolios (CHF >50M), backed by deep, hands-on sourcing expertise in direct procurement categories—specifically electronic and mechanical components—paired with strong knowledge of product lifecycles, BOM structures, and transfer-to-manufacture methodologies.
Systems & Digitalization: Strong proficiency in SAP ERP, Procure-to-Pay (P2P) workflows, eSourcing platforms, and BI tools (e.g., Tableau), alongside an advanced affinity for AI applications and Industry 4.0 digital transformations.
Languages & Global Leadership: Business-level fluency in English is required (German and/or Mandarin language skills are a strong asset), complemented by proven success mentoring junior colleagues across remote global sites and leveraging high cultural intelligence to drive cross-border cohesion.
Mindset & Key Capabilities: Self-driven, highly analytical, and resilient in high-transformation environments—taking accountability, championing a unified "One Network" collaboration over regional silos, demonstrating expert conflict resolution, and maintaining a data-driven focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The target global grade for this position is SE6.
