Job summary

World Health Organization seeks a Technical Officer (Disability) to lead disability inclusion initiatives and support health systems worldwide. You will work across global, regional and country levels, developing tools and training materials, liaising with partners, and contributing to research efforts on disability-inclusive health services.

The role requires advanced health sciences training, 7+ years of experience in disability inclusion, and strong collaboration skills to advance WHO's

Qualifications

• Essential: Advanced level university degree (Master's level or above) in health sciences, public health or related field.
• Desirable: PhD in public health or related field.
• At least 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in disability inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise in disability ensuring activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
• Support dissemination and implementation of the WHO Disability Health Equity Initiative at global, regional and country level.
• Support implementation of evidence-based technical materials on disability within relevant WHO programmes.
• Liaise with Regional and Country Offices and external partners on disability-related activities.
• Support planning and implementation of WHO activities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
• Develop and implement evidence-based technical tools to support Member States to develop disability inclusive health systems.
• Develop training materials for capacity building in disability inclusion for Member States.
• Conduct and contribute to research activities and evaluate data related to disability inclusive health systems.
• Support the Unit Head in development and monitoring of work plans and budgets including resource mobilization.
• Serve as a technical focal point for disability inclusion; respond to inquiries with detailed information.
• Exchange information with counterparts in technical departments, donor and development partners on policy implementation.
• Prepare and deliver oral presentations; compile and distribute informational materials.
