CERN in Geneva is offering a Geodetic Engineer / Postdoc position focused on gravity field modelling. You will contribute to studies for the Future Circular Collider (FCC) with gravity field models essential for the 91 km tunnel and high-precision alignment of accelerator components.

In parallel, a collaboration with Swisstopo will compute a quasi-geoid model over Switzerland to support the New Swiss Height System, enabling accurate height reference throughout the region.

Qualifikationen

• Master in Geodesy or related field.

At CERN, and in collaboration with Swisstopo, we are filling a position on regional gravity field modelling.

In this role, you will contribute to the studies for the Future Circular Collider (FCC), focusing on the gravity field models required for the construction of the 91 km-long tunnel and the later high-precision (sub-millimetric) alignment of the components of the particle accelerator and its detectors. In parallel, a collaboration between CERN and the Federal Office of Topography (Swisstopo) has been put in place to calculate simultaneously the quasi-geoid model over Switzerland that is required for the implementation of the New Swiss Height System .
