Alpiq in Olten is seeking a Gas Scheduler to support European gas scheduling activities in a fast-paced, international environment. You will interact daily with gas traders, TSOs, SSOs, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities include nominations, confirmations, capacity bookings, and automation of scheduling processes; plus piquet duty and on-call coverage. English fluency required, degree in CS/engineering/economics/business.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in computer science, engineering, economics or business (min. bachelor level).
• Good communication skills and fluency in English; other languages desirable.
• Experience in energy trading is advantageous but not required.
• Affinity with IT tools and process automation; Excel/VBA/Python/SQL advantageous.
• Structured, reliable, detail-oriented with ability to handle tasks independently.
• Team player with the ability to interact across internal teams.

Aufgaben

• Handle daily gas scheduling activities across European markets (nominations, confirmations, capacity bookings).
• Check positions with trading counterparts, TSOs and SSOs.
• Integrate and operate new products (storages, VPPs, swing options).
• Contribute to process automation and scheduling improvements with internal teams.
• Coordinate with Trading, Middle Office, Back Office and other stakeholders for smooth execution.
• Support resolution of operational issues and incidents; adapt to market changes.
• Monitor market rules and provide feedback on operational conditions and opportunities.
• Support expansion of Alpiq gas activities with ad-hoc analyses.
• Contribute to balancing and optimizing Alpiq spot gas positions; on-call 24/7.
• Perform piquet duty according to shift schedule.

To support the expansion of our gas portfolio, we are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Gas Scheduler to join our team in Olten, Switzerland. In this role, you will contribute to our European gas scheduling activities and work in a diverse, international, and fast-paced environment. You will interact daily with gas traders, counterparties, Transmission System Operators (TSOs), Storage System Operators (SSOs), and a wide range of internal stakeholders, providing an excellent opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the European gas market.

Your accountabilities

• Handle daily gas scheduling activities across several European markets, including nominations, confirmations, capacity bookings and operational follow-up.
• Check positions with trading counterparts, Transmission and Storage System Operators
• Integrate and operate new products (storages, VPPs, swing options...)
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and automation of scheduling processes in collaboration with relevant internal teams.
• Coordinate closely with Trading, Middle Office, Back Office and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operational execution.
• Support the resolution of operational issues and react promptly to market, system or counterparty-related incidents.
• Monitor market rules and provide traders and originators with constructive feedback of operational conditions and opportunities
• Support expansion of Alpiq gas activities with ad-hoc analysis on a project basis
• Contribute to balancing and optimizing Alpiq spot gas positions during and outside of normal business hours
• Perform piquet duty (on-call 24/7 from Monday to Sunday and weekend shift) according to a shift schedule

Your profile

• Degree in computer science, engineering, economics or business (min. bachelor level)
• Good communication skills, fluency in English, other language(s) highly desirable
• Previous experience in the energy trading sector is of advantage but not a prerequisite
• Strong affinity with IT tools and process automation; knowledge of Excel, VBA, Python or SQL is an advantage.
• Structured, reliable and detail-oriented working style, with the ability to manage operational tasks independently.
• Excellent team player willing to interact with people within and outside of Alpiq
• Ability to work in an accurate way while under pressure and to respect strict deadlines
