Job summary

EH Group seeks a Functional Safety Engineer to embed safety into our fuel cell systems in Nyon, Switzerland. You will lead hazard analyses, define safety goals, and allocate safety requirements across hardware, software and controls for certifiable products.

The role requires 3–5 years of functional safety experience in industrial or hydrogen systems, familiarity with IEC 61508/ISO 26262, and strong communication in English. On-site work is mandatory in Nyon with relocation expected.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in electrical/electronic/mechatronic or safety engineering is mandatory.
• 3–5 years of functional safety experience in industrial, energy or hydrogen systems.
• Working knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 26262 and/or IEC 62061).
• Hands-on experience with HARA, FMEA/FMEDA, FTA and safety requirements engineering.
• Understanding of safety-related hardware, embedded software and control architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own the functional safety lifecycle for fuel cell systems from concept to release.
• Lead hazard and risk analyses (HARA, HAZOP, FMEA/FMEDA, FTA) and define safety goals.
• Derive safety requirements and concepts and allocate them across hardware, software and controls.
• Define/verify safety mechanisms, diagnostics and safe states with the controls and embedded teams.
• Perform safety analyses and calculations (SIL/PL/ASIL determination, metrics).
• Compile safety cases, safety plans and supporting documentation for certification.
• Interface with notified bodies, certification authorities and customers on safety topics.
